Free the Fetus: get the doctor out the house

Despite the awful title, there’s potential in the material Scott Allen wrote for his comedy show Free the Fetus. It offers an unsentimental, clinical take on our time in the womb and could finally deliver that oxymoron: sophisticated toilet humour. But Scott Allen should not be the person delivering it. He’s a doctor, and possibly a writer, certainly not a comedian, and definitely not an actor.

Get off the stage, cut the lame jokes, tighten the script, and let a professional comedian who knows about timing and responding to a crowd provide a show that could get us laughing and challenge our comfortable notions. Until then, Free the Fetus will continue to resemble a comedic miscarriage.
