I am going crazy with this digital platform. There are Lindzay Naidoo and Klyde Williams literally Unmasked<\/a>, and performing their hearts out on my dodgy laptop screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\nam late to the show, something about the process of having to order\nthe ticket and then go to the programme to get your fliek is not good\nenough for the techno Saurons who design the system. No, you have to\npush “watch” in one of your sub menus in the digital sewers\nat the bottom of the page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why\nam I so irritated? Because I want to be there with Lindzay and Klyde.\nDamn, they look so good together as they dance out the joy of being\nyoung and the darkness of lockdown, in a pandemic and in a mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\nwant to see the air move, hear their breath pop, feel the boards\nthump with bare feet, hear their costumes flap and crack. I want to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And\nI do. The lighting is simple, the set even simpler. A block, they are\non the block, and a glass cage. Looking through the lens of these\nshitty times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\nam in now. I get it. The mood swings, from young, exuberant jiving,\nto some very dark stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This\nis not a piece to be “enjoyed” but I do enjoy it! I love\nthe dance, the timing, the feeling, it’s so on point. It needs to be\nembraced, not from this flippin computer, but from the bleachers.\nThey need to tune in, to commune with our intensity as we get it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A\nmarvellous little vignette, tight, rich, melodic, jarring, everything\ndance does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And\nthough you danced in the ether of techno nothingness, you were never\nalone. We were there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You burned bright. Thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Look out for <\/em>Unmasked being loaded onto the <\/em>video on demand programme<\/em><\/a> at the National Arts Festival.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
