{"id":3327,"date":"2019-06-28T08:28:21","date_gmt":"2019-06-28T07:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thecritter.co.za\/?p=3327"},"modified":"2020-03-31T19:42:41","modified_gmt":"2020-03-31T18:42:41","slug":"red-soil-brown-soil-sensitive-ruminations-of-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/thecritter.co.za\/?p=3327","title":{"rendered":"Red Soil \/ Brown Soil: Sensitive ruminations of home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-3328 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/thecritter.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Redsoil_Brownsoil.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"http:\/\/thecritter.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Redsoil_Brownsoil.jpg 600w, http:\/\/thecritter.co.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Redsoil_Brownsoil-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>I experienced this duet as if it were a performed, intimately personal, journal of ruminations on home and home-coming through the spirit.<\/strong><br \/>\nFragments, and inter-connected stories \u2013 some poetic, others anecdotal &#8212; and visual moments are presented through vignettes using various performance modes (spoken text, object theatre, puppetry and physical expression) and a variety of theatrical elements (set pieces, lighting, sound and the delicate, tender and affectionate performances on the part of the two actors, South African Billy Langa and Scandanavian Livia Hiselius).<br \/>\nThe interdisciplinary devised piece reflects on emotions that arise through how people walk on the land, local or foreign: a South African goes to Europe, a Scandanavian comes to Africa, walking on the soil.<br \/>\nWhen I write, \u201cI experienced this\u201d it is to own that I don\u2019t want to ascribe \u2018meaning\u2019 to the piece. It is how you experience it.
