Festival coats – check!

IT will snow on big mountain approach passes on Friday, probably in the afternoon. But the falls should not be that long, giving hope that roads will stay open.

More of an issue for motorists will be a gale force south-westerly from Plett to Port Alfred, saving petrol for Capetonians.

Here in Grahamstown today a Berg wind is blowing, but houses are cold. Look to the fireplaces.

NO FLOODING IS EXPECTED – Phew!

Friday 1st July

A cold front sweeps over the Western and Eastern Cape on Friday, followed by a ridging high pressure.

The result is a deep layer of moisture with low freezing levels passing over the Eastern Cape during Friday with showers in places and snowfall over the high terrain. From mid-morning onwards.

(TAKE NOTE:):

Disruptive snowfall is expected over mountain passes in the South, Central and North Eastern parts of the province.

Mountain ranges in which passes may be closed are: Outeniqua Mountains, Winterberg and the Southern Drakensberg (North Eastern corner of EC).
